Zimbabwe’s Minister of Industry and Commerce Honorable Dr Sekai Nzenza has hailed the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Buy Zimbabwe and Business Standard Systems Certification(BSSC) saying will go a long way in the production of quality products that are competitive both locally and internationally.
This comes amid, countries in Africa are moving towards an integrated free trade corporation which will have a multiplier trade effect on the continent.
The Honorable Minister made the remarks while officiating the signing ceremony held in the Capital on Thursday. The initiative will also local products going under certification and ratings that directly corresponds to regional and international integration.
“We believe this initiative will help boost local production and preference of locally produced goods and services while strengthening domestic value chains. The outcome can only be more jobs and wealth for our country.”
“The certification and rating of content production well for the African Continental Free Trade Area which is opening up opportunities and possibilities beyond our borders.”
The line Ministry is also anticipating that by the end of the year 70 percent of shelf space will be taken up by local products.
Zimbabwe is endowed with natural resources that awaits sustainable utilization.
