Amid escalation of COVID-19 cases in the country, Passengers Association of Zimbabwe (PAZ) has called upon the government to intensify screaming atroadblocks .
Speaking to Spotlight Online News Africa this Monday Tafadzwa Goliat PAZ President said exchange of IDs, traveling documents and drivers licenses at roadblocks scares easy transmission of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“As Passengers Association of Zimbabwe we are calling for screening of motorists and passengers at road blocks and checkpoints. This is more essential than asking people to produce travel authorisation letters.”
Hotels, companies and Government offices are currently intensifying Covid-19 screening on regular basis. Suspected cases will be referred to health authorities for further tests and screening.
“Just as supermarkets and other businesses are screening so must travellers be screened at all road blocks. Suspected cases can then be subjected to further tests and quarantine as is the norm in other countries.”
