Zimbabwe Citizens Forum on Trumps’ plea

The National Coordinator of Zimbabwe Citizens Forum, Taurai Kandishaya has lamented over the effects of targeted sanctions imposed on the country by the US Government saying they are now crippling the nation’s capacity to handle COVID-19.

This follows recent calls by US President Donald Trump calling appealing to the world for protective clothing support after closure an abrupt closure of factories.

According to Kandishaya if the the country had been exempted from the sanctions imposed by the US Government, would possibly come to the aid of the Global giant.

“If we had a well-performing economy, America could have been assisted well because we are one in fighting against this deadly disease that is wreaking havoc in the whole world. Unfortunately, our economy is bleeding due to restrictive measures imposed by the US government on Zimbabwe, “said Cde Kandishaya.

Kandishaya’s sentiments are in line with the calls made recently by UN Secretary General, Antonio Gutteris urging the Western World to relax sanctions imposed on nations to allow easy way of tackling COVID-19 pandemic.

“we are here to assist in any way necessary but the only challenge is that our assistance won’t be much because our citizens are failing to make ends meet as a result of restrictive measures which US government and other European countries imposed on Zimbabwe”.
