Millionaire and revered indigenous medical practitioner Sekuru Banda has come to the rescue of former sports legends, George Shaya greatest footballer and Alfonso Zvenyika yesteryear’s boxing champion who all received groceries and monetary assistance among other elderly people in Harare this Thursday.
This follows yet another expedition for COVID-19 donations in the rural communities of Dema in Seke which the prominent traditional healer recently undertook in addressing the plight of the elderly people.
This time around the Donation Programme targeted former sports legends as Sekuru Banda took upon himself spending thousands of dollars to the elderly communities in the residential suburbs of Mbare, Glenview and Glenora.
In an interview with Sekuru Banda said he incorporated the former sports legends as they are part of the elderly people who have been inconvenienced by the current lockdown period. Adding to this, thier age makes them vulnerable during crisis.
“This is a programme which we are carrying out nationwide to assist the elderly people. Because of thier age we cannot expect them to join queues with the abled people and also they no longer have the energies to carter for thier living,” he said.
Alfonso Mosquito Zvenyika, former Boxing Champion who received the donations at his residents in Mbare expressed gratitude saying Sekuru Banda came to the rescue of his family since they had never planned for the lockdown period.
“I would like to thank Sekuru Banda for what he has done to me and my family. Life has been very tough for us because the lockdown came when we were not expecting it and there was no time to arrange something for the family.”
George Shaya who also received the donations at his resident in Glenora said he run out of words to thank Sekuru Banda for his heartfelt donations.
“My words are not enough to thank Sekuru Banda for what he has done to me. I am grateful. I urge him to continue with his works which are good for the people.”
Sekuru Banda is on record for supporting Government’s Programmes COVID-19 through his philanthropic assistance to contain the spread of the pandemic in the country.
