DAPP hailed for scaling-up disability Programmes in Mash Central

Persons with Disabilities in Mashonaland Central Province has applauded Development Aid from People to People(DAPP) for initiating action oriented Programmes aimed at strengthening Disabled Persons Organization(DPOs).

This came to light during a Programme for Training DPOs on leadership and governance held by DAPP in Bindura last Friday.

Speaking to Spotlight Online News Africa Abdullah Mukanyela Good Vision Disability Organization (GVDO) said DAPP has over the past years been active in raising awareness through capacity building initiatives on issues of disability rights.

“Personally I can say I have benefited from DAPP Programmes. Information sharing has been instrumental in awakening persons with disabilities realize thier rights enshrined in UN Convention on Persons with Disabilities,” he said.

The NGO Forum is implementing various programmes on disability with the funding of European Union(EU).

Tinashe Zvorwadza a participant said DAPP’s current Programme on Implementation of Youths With Disabilities(YWD) inspired him in main respects through unity and sycronised engagement.

“DAPP Programmes on the implementation of Youths With Disabilities (YWD) makes us active and promotes a degree of independence and fostering unity of purpose among Disabled Persons Organization(DPOs), Civic Society Organizations (SCOs) and Youths With Disabilities(YWD).

Kudakwashe Takavarasha another participant said he felt empowered through DAPP Programmes on various issues of Disabled Persons.

“Through DAPP Programmes I have been empowered on disability rights, our concersns and advocacy rights.”

DAPP Programmes in Mashonaland Central Province will go a long way in spearheading domestication of United Nations Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).
