The government has considered Persons With Disabilities(PWDs) on the importation of electric powered vehicles by the Ministry Energy and Power Development.

This came to light last week during Post Cabinet Briefing. The Government highlighted the importation of electric powered wheelchairs among other vehicles under Electric Mobility Framework (EMF).

“The Ministry is working on the development of an Electric Mobility Framework to promote the use of climate friendly e-vehicles. To that end, some organisations such as ZERA, Econet Vaya, ZimTorque and Brandtechn have already started importing e-vehicles, tricycles and wheel chairs,” Government mouthpiece, Monica Mutsvangwa said.
Persons With Disabilities(PWDs) have been clamoring for inclusion in all areas of life. Thier recent inclusion on the importation of Electric Powered Vehicles is a step further on the domestication of UN Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Electric Mobility Framework comes at the back of the need to embrace climate friendly vehicles.
