CAPS United have appointed Darlington Dodo as their new head coach following the departure of Lloyd Chitembwe who joined Harare City on Monday.

The ‘Green machine’ as they are affectionally known by soccer fans posted the announcement on their Twitter handle

“At the moment coach Dodo is going to be responsible for the technical team. He is a qualified guy, he has got all the papers and it’s all about the support.” Caps President, Mr Farai Jere said.

“We are going to give him a lot of support, 200 percent and we also spoke to the players to give him support. They should do that because it’s their names that are at stake. They are second on the log and what can stop them from going all the way and win the league?”, Jere said.

Dodo has been at Caps United since last year following his stint with Bulawayo City, where he was dismissed over a spate of poor results  was named caretaker coach, until the end of the season and was given the permission to recruit his staff.

Jere also said the Makepekepe family will miss Chitembwe, whose last game in charge of Caps United saw them coming from behind to beat Highlanders 2-1 in a Castle Lager Premiership clash at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Dodo added that Method Mwanjali comes in as a playing Assistant coach and this is a perfect learning platform for the midfield maestro.

Dodo will be in charge of Makepekepe as they travel to Gweru this weekend where they will clash with Chapungu at Ascot Stadium.

Meanwhile, Chitembwe becomes the fifth Caps United coach to be poached by the Sunshine Boys after Mkhuphali Masuku, Taurai Mangwiro, Mark Harrison and Mark Mathe.
