Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy and Power Development, Gloria Magombo has expressed optimism in the National Renewable Energy and Biofuels Policy which launched on Wednesday in the Capital.
Speaking during the launch Magombo said the new polices will yield the desired results as the country is entering a new era which ensures a low carbon economy through renewable energy.
“We are here to make sure that the document doesn’t gather dust in a drawer but to make a comprehensive result in achieving a low carbon economy through solar energy and bio mass in the form of fuels and these transforms communities, with this launch we are setting what is to come,” she said.
The polices were crafted on the dimensions of wide international studies and consultations making the policy documents a success and this saw Zimbabwe becoming one of the few countries around the globe to adopt bio fuels.
“The policy documents under went several studies done at international level and we are one of the few countries around the globe to adopt bio fuels. We see future as renewable.”
The National Renewable Energy and Biofuels Polices launch was officiated by President Emerson Mnangagwa in the Capital. The crafting process was done with the assistance of both public and private sector, Hivos and Non Governmental Organizations.
