By Miranda Dzumbunu

The government has said farmers from all sectors will be assisted with inputs in preparing for the summer agricultural season production.
This comes after Meteorological Services Department projected for better rainfall season throughout the country.
Information,Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Hon Monica Mutsvangwa said these during a Post Cabinet Briefing earlier this week.
“The distribution of inputs will be expedited for crops as well as for livestock production, while Agritex will be capacitated to achieve mobility following the procurement of motor bikes that will soon be distributed to the provinces.”
“The Agritex officers are already assisting farmers countrywide with soil sampling and analysis inorder to ensure appropriate agronomic practices,” she said.
The developement will go a long way to ensure food security through diversification, increased exports, value addition, beneficiation, and increased import substitution.

“The main programmes under which farming activities will be resourced include the Pfumvudza/Presidential Input Scheme, the Command or Smart Agriculture Programme, and the Presidential Cotton and Sesame Progamme,” she added.
