Govt clarifies Statutory Instrument 174

The current lockdown Period regulations effected by the Government will have relevant sectors falling in the category of essential services.

Media Press Statement issued by Monica Mutsvangwa Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services on Monday unpacked all sectors categorized as essential services.

“Interpretation of Statutory Instrument 174 of 2020, the Taskforce received a presentation from the Attorney General on the interpretation of SI 174 and the following key guiding elements were clarified:On the definition of essential services, these include hospitals, transport, electricity, water, sewerage or sanitary, distribution of food, banking, coal mining, broadcasting, arms and organs of state providing security services.”

The current setting will have gatherings and business activities expected to operate between 8 am and 3pm

“With regards to gatherings, S.I 174 distinguished those gatherings which are permitted to do so between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.”

Government agencies on foreign missions will have their movements exempted from the the gazetted curfew
