Gunfire outside Winnie Mandela’s home

SOWETO – Police Minister, Bheki Cele has explained that members of the Umkhonto we Sizwe military veteran’s association (MKMVA) were responsible for firing several gunshots outside the home of struggle stalwart Winnie Madikizela Mandela.

Crime scene investigators were combing the perimeter near the house on Saturday morning.

Spent cartridges could be seen on the pavement across the road from her house.

Cele had earlier said it’s most likely MK Veterans that left spent bullet cartridges outside Mama Winnie’s home.

It’s a tradition they normally practice when an honoured person dies.

Cele said no injuries were reported and that police are investigating.
