Institute of Risk Management Zimbabwe Regional Group has been officially launched today during a conference organised by different stakeholders in the city, a positive development that will break new ground for the country.
Speaking in a presentation Magaret Mukurazhizha, IRM Zimbabwe Chairperson said professionals realized that over the years there was no professional body to represent interests of Risk Practitioners in Zimbabwe hence the move is a sound initiative to upscale latest standards of the profession at global level.
“The journey of the Zimbabwe RG began in 2017 when Risk Practitioners identified a gap in the Risk Management Profession and there was no professional body to represent the interests of Risk Practitioners in Zimbabwe.”
Mukurazhizha who is also Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) Head Internal Audit & Risk Management reiterated that the development came amid IRM Global is implementing growth strategy in different parts of the world and this became a e key enabler to the establishment IRM Zimbabwe Regional Group.
“This realization came at a time when the IRM Global was also implementing their growth strategy in Africa and other Continents. Indeed, it was a meeting of the minds. We then started courting each other until November 2018 when the IRM Zimbabwe Regional Group was officially recognised.”
Given the current trend of risk management in Southern Africa, there is now need to move towards adoption of acceptable IRM Global standards.
“Apart from sharing a long historical relationship between UK and Zimbabwe, as risk practitioners we wanted to be associated with a brand that has been tried and tested and this was found in IRM Global.”
IRM- Global has been instrumental in risk management to ensure organizations readiness for opportunities and threats of the future in the world.
