Lockdown level 3, a blow to SA Tourism

Recently the South African President announced the intensification of Level 3 Lockdown following a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases.

The new measures which has effected closure of some business activities including bars and restaurants will also see places of tourism interest getting affected.

In his recent address to the nation, President Cyril Ramaphosa also indicated that beaches were to be closed.

Meanwhile some operators in the tourism sector have lamented that the level 3 Lockdown is negatively affecting thier line of business.

“With level 3 Lockdown the beach has been closed and this affected activities at my restaurant,” says one tour operator.

Some South African local tourists wishing to visit holiday places failed to find access to the beaches.

“I wanted to visit the beach with my family for a holiday but it has been closed due to the new COVID-19 lockdown measures,” says one local tourist.
