Machete weilding Kwekwe robbers jailed

TWO Kwekwe robbers were sentenced to a three year custodial sentence by a Kwekwe magistrate yesterday after assaulting and robbing a passerby.

Special Masere (35) and Alois Moyo (31) were convicted by magistrate Story Rushambwa after full trial.

The duo will serve two years after Rushambwa suspended one year on condition of good behavior.

Prosecutor Freddy Ndoro told the court that on May 18 the convict’s were in company of the other three suspects who are still at large at Moyo mining area,Marivale in Kwekwe.

The five were armed with machetes and short sticks harassing Paul Dicha and Fanny Sipiriano.

The complaint Khumbulani Chimuko also arrived on the scene while riding a bicycle and he disembarked to check what was happening.

The five spotted him and stopped harassing Dicha and Spiriano before pouncing on Chimuko whom they severely assaulted with machetes and sticks.

Chimuko was robbed of his bicycle,money and mobile phone all valued at $237.
