Mashasha, drumist for Mbuya MaDube’s hit song ‘Ndega Ndega’ laments COVID-19 stalling his progressions

Mashasha the drumist for Mbuya MaDube’s hit song Ndega Ndega Kennedy Tabvarei Aka ‘Mashasha’ has lamented that COVID-19 lockdown period is stalling progress in his future fortunes for 2021 season.

The 36 year old artiste had put in place plans to to release his first debut album but little did he know the global pandemic would continue to thwart every hope in the entertainment industry.

“I had hoped to release my first album this festive season in 2021 but I am nolonger able to fulfill the ambitions due to the ongoing COVID-19.”

After working with Mbuya MaDube, Mashasha has been proactive in playing drums for prominent musicians on temporary basis. These include the legendary US based Thomas ‘Mukanya’ Mapfumo, Naison Chimbetu, the late P.O Farai Macheka, Brian Taurai Mteki, Michelle Jambo and many more.

Mashasha is also prominent for playing base guitar, drums, Mbira, marimba.

According to Mashasha financial constraints have been affecting the progressions of artistic work in the country. COVID-19 stamped a major blow to the sector. Appealed to the corporate world to consider employing artiste so keep the sector in progression.

“We are lacking resources and this is stalling progress in our work. The COVID-19 pandemic has worsened the situation.”

“We appeal to the corporate sector to consider our industry through means of intervention. This will probably help the entertainment sector from collapsing.”
