The Arts Relief Fund launched on 10th of July 2020 by the Government will soon find its way to the intended recipients.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation updates relevant stakeholders in the sector of the progress made in the current times.
“The Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation would like to inform all its valued
stakeholders in the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) sector (Individual artists, Art
groups, Art Institutions and Artist Associations/Organisations) that a total of 2 899
applications were received for the COVID-19 Artists Relief Fund at the close of the
submission period on the 31st of July 2020.”
The Ministry says it is now conducting final touch ups in a mean process that include list compilation, documentation and among other requisites before the disbursement of the 10 million fund.
“The Ministry and its agencies are now in the final stages of concluding the processes which
entailed receiving and documenting applications, convening Provincial Selection
Committee meetings and compiling lists of those applications recommended for approval
to start receiving the relief funds and those not recommended so that we understand the
reasons for rejection and craft intervention measures where necessary.”
The Ministry also details number of all applications received across the nation as per province.
