Mkono’s bail application set for Wed

The bail application for the Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition Youth Chairperson, Pride Mkono has been filed with the High Court, Monday in Harare and hearing is set for Wednesday 21 August 2019 at 9AM .
In a statement released by CiZC on Monday, said Mkono appeared before Magistrate Mambanji at the Magistrates Court in Harare,17 August 2019 facing charges of subversion.
The statement added that the CiZC youth chairperson was remanded in custody to 29 August 2019 and advised to seek bail at the High Court.
“Mkono joins a list of 22 civil society leaders and human rights defenders and opposition leaders who have been charged with subversion since the beginning of the year”, said the statement.
He is represented by Harrison Nkomo of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights.
Meanwhile, Mkono is currently held at Chikurubi Maximum Prison and joins Tajamuka leader , Promise Mkwananzi who is facing two counts of similar charges.
