MOZAMBIQUE state broadcaster TVM has confirmed opposition leader Afonso Dhlakama’s death on Thursday.

According to BBC, the main opposition Renamo party says its long-serving leader, Afonso Dhlakama, has died of a heart attack.

He was 65. Dhlakama led Renamo during a fifteen-year rebellion against the Mozambican government, which ended in 1992.

The former guerrilla commander was found dead at his home in Gorongosa, it said.
