Following the annunciation by President Mnangagwa in declaring 15 June a National Day of Prayer, Ministry of Youth, Sport, Art and Recreation in conjunction with its parastatal, National Youth Council and ZBC-TV will be hosting a National Prayer Day Gospel Concert next Saturday.
Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation Spokesperson, Ranson Madzamba confirmed to Spotlight Online News Africa that plans to host the concert are at an advanced stage as the entire ministry led by Hon Kirsty Coventry is work round the clock to make the event a success.
“The Ministry of Youth,Sport,Arts and Recreation,The National Arts council of Zimbabwe and ZBC-TV have joined hands in coming up with a National Prayer Day Gospel Concert.Minister Coventry,Deputy Minister Machakaire and the Permanent Secretary Dr Chitepo are all running around to make sure the concert becomes a success.”
Minister Mahendere, Charambas, Mambo Dhuterere, Mathias Mhere, , Janet Nanyowa, Blessing Shumba and Pastor Emmanuel Marecha are some of the gospel artists set to perform at the live concert.
According to Madzamba gospel music is vital in lifting believers faith and this resonates well with Zimbabwe’s christian background. This will be hosted at a time when the country joins the entire world in battling a deadly pandemic, COVID-19.
“Gospel music is indeed another form or way of telling the lord our wishes and our wish in this case is to make sure this covid 19 evaporates for good.As you know Zimbabwe is a christian country and we believe that with God nothing is impossible.”
The concert shall be live on The Minsitry of Youth,Sport,Arts and Recreation facebook page as well as on ZBC-T.It shall also be live on National Arts Council facebook .
