Persons with Disabilities lack COVID-19 knowledge

Open Heart Disability Care Trust (OHDCT), a Muzarabani based Civic Society Organization has sited lack of knolwedge on COVID-19 pandemic among persons with disabilities.

Right to information is a fundamental right enshrined in the United Nations Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Kiverson Savah Director Open Heart Disability Care Trust revealed this during an interview with Spotlight Online News Africa on Wednesday.

“As Open Heart we realized that COVID-19 pandemic is still an issue on Persons with disabilities. We are with them on the ground on daily basis, noted that information dissemination is still an issue,” he said.

According to Savah practicing social distancing is still a far fetched dream to persons with visual and hearing impairment. Suggested for ways to enhance information dissemination.

“There is a need for us to continue devising new methods of communication to those persons with visual and hearing impairment. We have seen that some of them lack essential information pertaining to social distancing among other issues.”
