Prisons have always been a public health crisis

By Sir Colin

Prisons are plainly not Covid 19 secure, given the number of Covid 19 cases countrywide. It cannot be justified to call people to Court for non urgent matters.

“We are all more than our crimes”. As the Coronavirus sweeps through prisons, incarcerated people are nearly four times likely to contract Covid 19 and twice as likely to die from it.

We know that the changing guidance on Covid 19 can feel confusing and difficult to understand. At this time, social visits are suspended in all prisons, we need to develop an art of asking pertinent questions and unlocking justice and equality.

Concerned and responsible Citizens need to request a comprehensive report on the impact of Covid 19 on the Prison service and Criminal Justice employees, and this report must have statistics, graphs, case studies, service delivery models, and funding movements from Central government.

Do you have incarcerated loved one? Help collect questions from people inside about the new Covid 19 vaccine so that we provide our duty of care.

Covid 19 is real and killing the incarcerated, their friends and family members, on the outside often suffer without a final good bye or even basic information about how their loved one got sick or was treated.
Did the Prison service develop face mask strategy?
