Tanaka Mukakatanwa aka Diamond, The Jewel of Zimbabwean Football

Nicknamed diamond by his coach, as the coach said Tanaka was the jewel of the team. Tanaka is an ambitious young man whose passion is centered around football. Tanaka is a professional footballer keen to make huge strides in his career and play in the world’s biggest leagues. Because of his speed, agility, and strength, Tanaka is versatile in terms of how to play, able to play in central defense, midfield as well as fullback positions.

Tanaka began his professional football in 2015 where he played for Dilo Aces football club in the second division as a result of being loaned by Friendly Academy at the age of 15. He was outstanding to the point that Ruwa Gunners football club secured him on contract to play 1st division professional football in 2016. Fine displays earned him a couple of man of the match displays, despite being the youngest players in the club.

In the same year of 2016, Tanaka went to England to take part in the New Balance Nottingham International cup. The biggest youth international football tournament in England, where he captained Friendly Football Academy to this prestigious cup victory, The tournament had youth teams from all over the world.

In 2017 he went overseas again to Great Britain this time New Balance Huddersfield International cup, right after he had won the Nottingham cup, came back again a year later for another tournament in Huddersfield only to repeat the previous year’s success. Tanaka led his team as captain, again as a center-back defending his title and retaining the NB International Cup.
