U.S. Secretary of State’s expedition on Africa

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is in Africa and he is the first US Official to visit the African continent in a worthwhile.

Issues likely to emergy from his solitary visit includes diplomatic relations, visa restrictions, and the military future with African leaders.

Pompeo is expected to visit Senegal, Angola and Ethiopia amid the need to strategically counter the growing influence of China and Russia in the continent.

The Western Power is considering reducing its military presence in the in West Africa’s Sahel region while extremists linked to al-Qaeda and the Islamic State group expand their reach, killings hundreds of civilians.

The State Secretary was quoted last year saying Sahel should be the next focus of the global coalition against IS outside the group’s core region.
