JUST IN: Opposition leader dragged out of peace indaba

By Staff Reporter

FIREBRAND president of the little known 1980FreedomMovement opposition party, Francis Danha was dragged out of a peace pledge signing ceremony for political parties in Harare Tuesday for riotous behaviour.

Danha, a medical doctor, caused a stir at a Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) multi-party liaison committee meeting last week when he violently demanded the resignation of Zec chair, Priscilla Chigumba on alleged bias.

The meeting was later abandoned for security reasons.

Danha was at it again this Tuesday during a National Peace and Reconciliation Commission organised event for political parties called to sign a peace pledge ahead of the July 30 elections.

Police were summoned to drag him out of the meeting.

It took more than three minutes for the police to eventually get him out as he was kicking and screaming.

When the event started, a minute of silence was observed for two people who died of injuries caused by a mysterious blast that followed President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s address of a Zanu PF rally in Bulawayo on Saturday.

Atleast 47 more were injured.
