A Harare man is nursing injuries after he was allegedly bashed by his wife and had to be rescued by the police over contraceptives dispute.
The matter came to light at Mbare magistrates courts yesterday were Junior Musiiwa (21) appeared before magistrate Kudzai Zihove facing a domestic violence charge.
Musiiwa pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded out of custody to March 23.
Prosecutor Luke Muchato told the court that on February 2 Morgan Mutunda (44) came back home from a beer binge around 2am and knocked at the door which his wife Musiiwa did not open.
Mutunda eventually broke the door and gained entry, the couple started exchanging words.
Mutunda confronted his wife on why she was using depo proven family planning methods and that did not auger well with his wife who vowed not to carry a child for him.
Musiiwa picked a sjambok and started assaulting her hubby all over the body before throwing his clothes away and ordering him to permanently leave the house.
Mutunda fled and went to the police station to file a report before going to the hospital for medical check up.
Musiiwa was subsequently arrested.
