Zimbabwe bans national independence day commemorations

Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa has banned the much awaited public holiday, Independence Day celebrations that were earmarked for Bulawayo on the 18th of April, Spotlight Online News Africa can reveal.

Mnangagwa told journalists at State House on Tuesday that the events will be cancelled to avert the spread of Coronavirus.

Coronavirus which is now referred as COVID-19 has become a global threat prompting countries of the world to suspend summits, international travels among other engagements.
