Zim experiences decline in COVID-19 weekly cases

The country has recorded a decline in COVID-19 cases despite the wave causing untold sufferings across the nation.

The government explained that the weekly cases had a slight declined and this could be attributed to the uptake of COVID-19 vaccine and adherence to the stipulated guidelines.

“Government notes that there was a slight decrease in weekly cases from 14 275 during the week ending 27 July 2021, to 11 652 in week ending 2 August 2021. The decline is mostly attributable to the infection prevention and control efforts instituted by Government in response to the third wave of the COVID-19 outbreak.”

A siginficant number of COVID-19 new cases were recorded in Harare, Mashonaland, Manicaland and Masvingo provinces.

The Zimbabwean Government continues to urge all people to continue observing the COVID-19 guidelines and the current lockdown rules.

“The nation is called upon to continue exercising extreme caution, and complying with COVID-19 protective and preventative guidelines, protocols and measures in order to register further declines in confirmed COVID-19 cases.”
