Zimbabwe: Environment Minister accelerates afforestation efforts

Honorable Nqobizitua Ndlobvu the Minister of Environment, Climate Change, Tourism and Hospitality Industry launched the tobacco Wood Programme (TWEP) tree planting in Hwedza this Friday.

The launch marks the fourth of a nationwide campaign.

TWEP is a government initiated Programme where every tobacco grower contributes to the Afforestation Fund through deduction of a percentage of proceeds coming from the sale of the tobacco.

The aAfforestation Fund is being used to to be subsequently harvested for tobacco curing, hence saving the indigenous forests which takes a long time to grow.
