Zimbabwe- The Former Minister of Energy and Power Development, Advocate Fortune Chasi said his recent Boxing Match against Ray Vines Arthur Mukukuzvi was to uplift the sport and charity for the homeless.
He became the first public figure to wore gloves in a boxing ring in a highly publicized match held on a Boxing Day.
“Despite my love for the sport I thought I could inspire many talents out there.”
According to Chasi the match was also to raise awareness on boxing match as sporting discipline and at the same time raising awareness. The initiative will be continuously held.
“Boxing has to be recognized as a sport and it is my hope to see many talents out there getting inspired. This initiative will continue to have it as part of raising awareness.”
Apart from this, all funds raised during the tournament which also featured other renowned boxers was to be channelled towards the vulnerable families whose houses were recently demolished in the high density suburbs of Budiriro.
“This is not only just for fun but we introspected on how we can make some interventions in raising funds for the people whose homes were demolished in Budiriro and this would also inspire others.”
