Zimbabwe: Twin Palm Medical Centre and GAMMA Allergy and Immunology Laboratory, receives double acreditation

Twin Palm Medical Centre and GAMMA Allergy and Immunology Laboratory has been certified by the Standards Association of Zimbabwe  (SAZ) and accredited by the Southern African Development Community Accreditation Services (SADCAS) at a colourful ceremony in Harare recently.

The event was graced by the guest of honour Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care Drand several stakeholders in the medical field which includes the Director of laboratory Services ,the Southern African Development Community Accreditation Services , Standards Association of Zimbabwe ,Zimbabwe National Quality Assurance and SADC  Regional Centre of Excellence for Quality Assurance , Health Professions Authority, Medical and Clinical Laboratory Scientists Council , Zimbabwe Medical Association and the Association of Health Funders of Zimbabwe and Affiliated medical Society

In his speech read by the Deputy Director Non Communicable Diseases, Dr. Justice Mudavanhu, deputy Minister of Health and Child Care Dr Mudavanhu said the handover certificate to the Twin Palm Medical Centre and GAMMA Allergy and Immunology Laboratory is a great milestone.

“The certification of Twin Palm Medical Centre and GAMMA Allergy and Immunology Laboratory marks a great milestone in the health sector and this illustrates how committed you are and as government we need to see a healthy nation,” Dr. Mangwiro said.

It is the first organization  in Zimbabwe  to be awarded a certificate in the clinical wing  of the Asthma , allergy and immuno dysfunction clinic the ISO 90001:2015 accreditation certificate whilst ISO 15189 :2012  for the Standard and the scope of accreditation is outlined in accreditation certificate.

“The mission of the health laboratory Services is to provide high quality services , in the right time , right place and in respect of the needs of patients , community and health stuff,” said M.D. Prof Elopy Sibanda. He further stated that they are committed as Twin Palm Medical Centre and GAMMA Allergy and Immunology Laboratory to service every patient’s needs fairly without any discrimination.

Mr Ranganai Mutonono who is the Director of Certification for the Standards Association of Zimbabwe handed over the ISO  90001:2012 certificate for quality management services .’ Twin Palm Medical Centre and GAMMA Allergy and Immunology Laboratory should be proud that it has satisfied the rigorous checks , we as the the Standards Association of Zimbabwe have approved that Twin Palm has put in place all the measures required for certification furthermore this ISO 90001:2015 standard independently assures conformity to globally based practice ‘ elaborated Ranganai.

 Southern African Development Community Accreditation Services Chief Executive Officer Mrs Maureen P Mutasa said they issued  Twin Palm  on October sixteen 2019 and the certificate is valid for five years then renewal will required . ‘ This is the 39th medical laboratory  to be accredited by (SADCAS) in Zimbabwe after we conducted thorough assessments for over three days and we issued Twin Palm certificate to operate after five months ‘ said Maureen Mutasa.

Twin Palm was accredited in five tests methods covering scopes in Chemistry and Serology in serum , plasma , whole blood in accordance with ISO 15189 .SADCAS is now in its eleventh year of operation and has as for now issued one hundred and fifty certificates to one hundred and twenty one facilities in twelve SADC countries and two non SADC  Ghana and Cote d’ lvoire where it accredited military medical laboratories.

Twin Palm Medical Centre and GAMMA Allergy and Immunology Laboratory have fulfilled the rigorous international standards and it now joins the CIMAS medical laboratories and the Lancet clinical laboratory to bring world standards of laboratory testing in Zimbabwe.

Professor Elopy Sibanda further highlighted that for the Association of Health care funders and medical aid societies there would be cast containment as there will be no need to repeat tests all the time , ultimately the customer satisfaction will be ensured. “There is no allergy clinic in the public sector so this centre will act as a referral centre for both public and private patients “.
