ZSG hailed for championing environmental sustainability

Zimbabwe’s Minister of Environment, Climate Change, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Honarable Mangaliso Ndlovu has commended Zimbabwe Sunshine Group(ZSG) for championing environmental sustainability in waste management.

He made the remarks on Wednesday while officiating the Opening Ceremony of the 9th Edition of the Africa Green Waste and Energy Expo & Conference (AGWEEC).

“May I congratulate the Zimbabwe Sunshine Group for organizing this successful event. We have seen this organisation grow from strength to strength in championing environmental sustainability and sustainable development.”
The Honarable Minister went on to reiterate that the Government cherishes the ZSG’s environmental initiatives that builds capacity through employment creation, addressing sustainable development goals at the back of challenges presented by climate change.

“As the Ministry responsible of the Environment, Climate Change, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, we acknowledge your good work aimed at attaining and maintaining a cleaner, healthier and safer environment for all and improve livelihoods through sustainable activities, whilst counteracting effects of climate change. I call upon various stakeholders to support such efforts in the quest to preserve and conserve our precious environment,” says Honarable Mangaliso Ndlovu.

ZSG is among youth-led and non-profit making organizations that have made positive strides in environmental sustainability and sustainable development.

Over the past few years it has endeavored in the development and implementation of high impact, transformative and low investment initiatives.

It has also gained traction in four main of programming which include capacity development, technical support and training, livelihood support and practical solutions for communities and institutions.

ZSG has managed to extend Community Waste Management Program (CWMP) to high density areas of Mabvuku, Mutare, Bindura, Harare and Epworth among others where recycling centers has been set.
